Dear Folks,

Learn how to Save Seeds and then come to the Free Seed Share!

The Urban Farm is hosting a 2 hour free webinar on Seed Saving with the always interesting speaker Bill McDorman - I saw him speak at a conference last year and he was not only full of great info, but inspirational.

You need to register for the webinar, but it is free.  6 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 19th.

I have been saving seeds for some years for both my use and to add to the seed bank I take to the Mesa Community Farmers Market for a "Free Seed Share" -- next one is January 22nd from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There are some excellent reasons for saving seeds from your garden.
1) they are FREE
2) you are creating stronger generations in YOUR garden, called regional adaptation
3) natural in the truest sense of the word - no chemicals or additives, just plain healthy seeds
4) stored properly - dry, cool, dark - seeds can remain viable for years.

The time for the Webinar and the Seed Share are appropriate - this is the start of the spring/summer planting time, and nearing the end of the fall/winter growing time -- perfect to harvest the seeds from your plants for saving, storing and sharing.
