Learn To "Grow" a Community Garden - Mesa Residents

Dear Folks,

iMesa Community Garden Initiative is moving forward with a meeting
coming up.

Sat. Jan. 21, 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Mesa Main Library, 64 E. First St.

Before you dig up some dirt and put a seed in the ground, there are many things to think about to create a community garden in your neighborhood or on any vacant piece of property. If you are interested
in starting a community garden, but aren't sure where to begin, you can start with this program designed to teach you how to get a garden up and growing. Topics include finding a site, fundraising, creating
garden guidelines, garden committees and handling some of the challenges, too. Long-time community gardener, Doreen Pollack from the Valley Permaculture Alliance will provide a brief presentation, and
then will facilitate a discussion with other community garden members and the audience

Use the link above to go to their web page and see what is available to you and / or how you might want to get involved.

I will be attending the meeting, to help encourage everyone who has an interest in building this kind of great community support benefit.

A community garden can be a or THE focal point in a neighborhood.  If you are already happily gardening in your own backyard, consider becoming involved in assisting a community garden to "grow" in your
neighborhood.
